Primary Job Description:


This Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining cutting-edge visuals for the Digital Media team.  The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller with a thorough understanding of motion graphics and current design styles. You know what's trending, and would love to spend all day in video, animation and design programs. You are eager to learn new techniques. 

  • Ability to work in both 2D and 3D graphic environments
  • Create full video packages including design and animation of show logos, end cards, custom transitions, key art and thumbnails
  • Understands best practices for short-form content on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Design static and animated social media posts
  • Up-level visuals created outside of the company

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong internship, or 1+ years video editing, motion graphic and design experience
  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite — Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to translate written concepts into visually descriptive, impactful designs

SONNEMAN - A Way of Light, the leader in the design and manufacturing of sophisticated contemporary lighting, is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our growing team. Works with Design and Engineering teams to facilitate product development activities from first design concepts to production. Product Development Engineer will possess strong communication and management skills, and ability to work in a high pressure and dynamic environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering development and design for manufacturing of new product concepts
  • Maintenance and updating of existing product specifications
     

Duties May Include:

  • Interfacing with the Design Department to understand product requirements
  • Engineering design/development of new products, including material/process selection and mechanical, thermal, electrical, and optical design
  • Generating 3D CAD drawings in SOLIDWORKS for manufacturing vendor
  • Clearly documenting and communicating design and engineering details for manufacturing vendors
  • Detailed review of 3D CAD drawings received from manufacturing vendor, checking for accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Mechanical review and inspection of prototypes and first-article samples, possibly including on-site reviews with manufacturing vendors in China
  • Generating product specifications and supporting documentation, including datasheets and assembly instructions

 

Minimum Requirements Include:

  • 3 years of product design/development engineering experience, preferably in the decorative or architectural lighting fields.
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering materials and low- to high-volume production manufacturing processes.
  • Highly skilled in SOLIDWORKS solid modeling.
  • Basic shop and mechanical prototyping skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or related engineering field.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (no VISA sponsorship available).

The Position

Title:                                        Director of Product Design

Reports To:                             Robert Sonneman (Executive Chairman / Chief Creative Officer)

Direct Reports:                        Industrial Designers / Design engineers / Team/Model Makers      

Responsibilities:

  • Manage product design and related activities (from concept through manufacturing)
  • Responsible for the planning, staffing, scheduling and coordination of creative talent and related design resources
  • Generate and maintain project briefs throughout the development process
  • Develop and lead the product vision going forward
  • Coordinate concept development sketches through SolidWorks models and renderings into 3D sketch models
  • Stay current on trends and news in design and lighting
  • Recruit and continue building the talent pool for design team
  • Participate in driving awareness of SONNEMAN design in local educational design communities

 

 

Qualifications  & Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Masters in Architectural Design or related field with a strong product development focus

Broad knowledge and understanding of the Modern design aesthetic in architectural and interior design

Experience in the decorative, architectural, or Modern design of high-end furniture/office or other architecturally related products field a plus

Demonstrated experience managing people and processes of a design or creative team

Highly proficient in SolidWorks, Rhino, and other advanced 3D modeling software

Familiarity and experience with production manufacturing processes and materials

SONNEMAN – A Way of Light is seeking an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller who will be reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.  The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting, including the accurate and timely posting of all transactions, reconciliations, journal entries, management of the full month-end close process, internal controls, cash flow, balance sheet, P&L analysis and preparation of monthly financial statements.

                                                  

Initially, the successful candidate will focus on building the accounting organization with the help of the CFO.  Together, we will plan and execute on the transition of the accounting / finance function from a shared service to a standalone organization under the oversight of the candidate/CFO.  This process will involve the recruitment and building of a team, development and implementation of accounting procedures / controls, and finally, the orderly transition to our oversight.


Over the long-term, the successful candidate will manage the accounting and finance organization of a business that is experiencing an inflection in scale.  Our success will be measured by our ability to make finance and accounting a strategic asset for the firm.  This role is a partnership with a CFO who has a strong investing / Wall Street finance background.

 

Reports To:           CFO (Patrick Klosterman)

Responsibilities:                  

    Full GL management, including the accurate and timely posting of all transactions, including journal entries
    Produce timely accounting reports, including full financial statement packages, analyses and balance sheet reconciliations
    Analyze financial information, data, and trends, and provide recommendations to CFO and rest of business
    Management of full month-end and year-end close process
    Balance sheet and P&L account analysis
    Reconciliations of cash, BS, P&L and AMEX on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
    Establish and maintain adherence to internal controls
    Accounting liaison with rest of organization
    Manage working capital and cash including the preparation of weekly check runs
    Maintain an A/R collections process and ensure entries associated with Sales / credits booked properly
    Manage annual budget & forecasting processes


Qualifications & Education:

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  •     Minimum of 4 to 6 years related accounting experience
  •         At least 1 year with inventory-based company
  •         At least 1 year with commissions

We are seeking a full-time Industrial Designer to work with our design and engineering teams to develop and support new products from concept to post-production for our line of contemporary lighting fixtures.

Responsibilities may include:

- Concept Sketching/Exploration;
- Physical Design: Rapid prototyping and model making; 
- 3D and 2D CAD modeling and photo realistic rendering.

Requirements:

- Highly proficient in Solidworks, KeyShot, & Adobe Creative Suite;
- Familiarity with production manufacturing processes and materials;
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, or related field with a strong product development focus;
- Meticulous and detail-oriented, with big picture conceptual skills;
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and flexible design environment;
